Aliren is an over-the-counter drug used in the treatment of cold symptoms, whose active ingredients are amantadine, paracetamol and chlorphenamine.

1. Paracetamol
Paracetamol is a drug that acts as a pain reliever and antipyretic. It is used in the symptomatic (not curative, but relieving symptoms) treatment of mild to moderate pain and fever.
The drug Aliren should be used with caution in the following situations.
- If skin rash, rash or a skin reaction occurs,
- If you are on a sodium diet,
- Due to the risk of liver poisoning (hepatotoxicity) in people who drink alcohol, the daily dose of paracetamol should not exceed 2000 mg.
- It should be used with caution under the supervision of a doctor in patients with anemia, lung patients, liver and kidney dysfunction.
- If you have Gilbert’s syndrome, an inherited disease characterized by elevated liver enzymes and transient jaundice
- Hemolysis (destruction of red blood cells) may rarely be seen in patients with glucose 6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, which is effective in blood sugar metabolism.
- Causes severe liver toxicity when given suddenly (acute) high doses.
- May cause liver damage in adults at long-term (chronic) daily doses.
- It should be used with caution in patients with alcoholic liver disease.
Consult your doctor if new symptoms occur within 3-5 days or if pain and/or fever do not subside.

- Headache
- Dizziness
- Continuous sleep state
- Sensory disturbances such as numbness, tingling or burning sensation
- Upper respiratory tract infection symptoms
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Discomfort, pain and indigestion in the upper abdomen
- Excessive amount of gas in the stomach and intestines
- Stomach ache
- Constipation
2. Amantadine Hydrochloride
Amantadine Hydrochloride belongs to a group of drugs called dopaminergic agents.
This drug reduces and slows muscle stiffness, limitations in movement and facial expression.
The drug also has antiviral activity.
It is used for:
- Treating Parkinson’s disease by improving muscle control and reducing stiffness, tremors and shaking;
- To prevent and treat an infectious disease caused by a type of influenza virus called influenzae type A virus in adults and children over 10 years of age;
- In the treatment of shingles (Herpes zoster).
Do not use this medicine in the following cases:
- If you are allergic to amantadine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of the medicine;
- If you have epilepsy;
- If you have or have had stomach ulcers;
- If you have severe kidney failure;
- if you are pregnant;
- If you are breastfeeding;
- If you are taking a medicine containing memantine.
This drug is not recommended for patients with benign prostatic enlargement or narrow-angle glaucoma.

- Constipation
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Decreased appetite
- Difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
- Abnormal dreams
- Headache
3. Chlorphenamine
Chlorphenamine is an antihistamine drug.
It is used to relieve allergy symptoms.
It is a sedative drug, so you may feel drowsy when using this drug.
You should avoid long journeys while using this medicine.
This component is often used in the following situations:
- Hay fever
- Red, itchy eyes
- Eczema
- Food allergies and hives caused by chickenpox
- Insect bites and stings
Chlorphenamine is sometimes mixed with other medicines such as ephedrine or pseudoephedrine to treat colds and coughs.
When this ingredient is mixed with other drugs, it can be called Galpseud Plus Linctus and Haymine.
It usually takes 30 minutes to 1 hour for the component to work.
The side effects of the ingredient are listed below:
- Feeling sick (nausea)
- Drowsiness or dizziness
- Difficulty concentrating
- Dry mouth
- Headache or blurred vision
You can buy cough, cold and other medicines containing chlorphenamine from pharmacies, but such medicines should not be given to children under 6 years of age.
It should be given to children under 6 years of age only if prescribed by a doctor.
How To Use Aliren?
Aliren is suitable for children over 12 years old. If a doctor has prescribed this medicine, be sure to follow its instructions. Before using the medicine, read the instructions for use thoroughly.
The usual dose of Alirene is 1 capsule every 8 hours. It should be swallowed whole orally. If you experience any negative meat while using Aliren, stop the use of the drug and discuss this with your doctor.
